In a world that is swirling and on the go at a rapid and constant pace, it can be very difficult to be in the presence of what is right in front of you. But it is presence that actually allows us to more fully partake of the life we want to live.

Coach Denita Bremer defines presence as the state of being fully in the moment physically, emotionally, and spiritually, right here and now. When we can drop into this space is when we have less resistance and anxiety and more flow and ease. Christ was a great example of living in the present. Denita so beautifully shares that He was able to do this because He had learned that Being the Son of God is what gave Him His power, not what He accomplished in His life. The same is true for us. Our power comes from who we are, not what we do.

So come listen to the podcast today and learn some great tips on how to be present so that you can access the true power of who you are instead of what you do or do not do in your life.

Takeaways:

*Trauma is any unresolved nervous system response. For most of us, that is an emotion.

*Denita defines “presence” as an experience that is felt in our bodies. It is the state of being fully in the moment physically, emotionally, and spiritually, right here and now.

*It’s very hard to always be present and on average we are really only present 30% of the time.

*When we can drop into this space is when we have less resistance and anxiety and more flow and ease.

*Practicing presence can help us drop the need to plan and control. We can be in a state that allows us to go with the flow more.

*Presence is more of a feeling than the results we get in our lives.

*When we focus on “who am I being” then the doing of things falls into place. We are often taught the opposite.

*When we can be in a centered, grounded place, then things become more obvious as to what we should or shouldn’t be doing in our lives.

*Christ’s power doesn’t come from anything He did. It all comes from who He is. Being the Son of God is what gave Him His power, not what He accomplished in His life. The same is true for us. Our power comes from who we are, not what we do.

*Five tools + a bonus, to help you be more present:

  1. Take care of your physical needs. Meeting physical needs is so important to your internal experience.
  2. Learn to consciously breathe. Breath is the place where 85% of your toxins are released from our bodies.
  3. Meditation. Creates space to slow down and just be.
  4. Have a digital sunrise and sunset. This is a time where you stay off the screens when you first wake up and before you go to bed.
  5. Orienting. Look around the space you are in slowly and curiously so you can take in your surroundings.
  6. Yoga. Combines all the things above in one place.

*It truly is the small and easy and simple things that will make a big difference in our ability to be present in our lives.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Do you feel you are good at being present in your life? Why or why not?
  2. The Savior’s power came from being who He was. If the same is true for you, who are you and what power does that knowledge give you?
  3. What is one tool that Denita gave that you could easily incorporate into your life to help you be more present?
